James Kennedy is a Corporate Finance Partner at Cowgills and Head of the firm’s Healthcare team, advising shareholders, management teams, and investors on a broad range of corporate finance transactions, with a particular focus on the healthcare sector.
James has advised on more than 30 completed transactions with an aggregate deal value of approximately £750 million, spanning acquisitions, disposals, investments, management buyouts and other strategic transactions. He has developed particular expertise in healthcare, working across a range of subsectors and advising entrepreneurial and owner-managed businesses through complex and transformational transactions.
Known for his hands-on approach and commercial perspective, James works closely with clients throughout the transaction process, from developing strategic options and positioning a business for sale through to negotiating terms and executing the transaction.
James has been recognised for his contribution to the corporate finance market, having won Emerging Dealmaker of the Year in 2024 and subsequently being shortlisted for Dealmaker of the Year at the 2026 North West Insider Awards.
As Head of Cowgills’ Healthcare team, James combines his broader corporate finance experience with deep sector knowledge, providing clients with both transaction expertise and an understanding of the strategic and commercial dynamics shaping the healthcare market.
