Our regional experts are tracking the build-up, providing live analysis of the announcements, and turning the key measures into actionable insights and practical tips to help SMEs prepare.
Chancellor John Healey will deliver his first Autumn Budget on Wednesday 28 October 2026. He's described it as a Budget "built on fiscal discipline" that will meet the government's fiscal rules while giving businesses and families "the stability they need to plan for the future," and one that will "move money and power out of Westminster and into every postcode around Britain."
With economists estimating a fiscal gap of at least £22bn, many are expecting the Chancellor to face difficult choices on tax and spending in order to stay within those self imposed fiscal rules. For UK business owners, finance directors and individuals alike, that could mean changes to tax rates, National Insurance, business rates, employment costs, pensions and personal allowances, all of which can have a direct impact on planning, cash flow and investment decisions.
With the economy still adjusting to rising costs and ongoing policy uncertainty, understanding the detail behind the headlines is more important than ever. Will there be changes to Income Tax thresholds or Capital Gains Tax? What might be announced for small business support, R&D relief or the National Living Wage? These are the questions we know matter to you.
Across our regional hubs, our experts are already digging into the detail ahead of 28 October, ready to bring you live reaction on Budget day and turn Healey's announcements into practical next steps for your business or personal finances.

Autumn Budget 2026 FAQs
The Chancellor, John Healey, will deliver the Autumn Budget 2026 on Wednesday 28 October 2026.
John Healey, Chancellor of the Exchequer, will deliver his first Budget statement to Parliament.
Healey has described it as a Budget “built on fiscal discipline” that will meet the government’s fiscal rules, while giving businesses and families “the stability they need to plan for the future.” He’s also framed it as a Budget that will “move money and power out of Westminster and into every postcode around Britain,” echoing the government’s wider levelling up agenda. Economists have pointed to a fiscal gap of at least £22bn, meaning tax rises or spending changes are widely expected despite this discipline focused framing.
While full details won’t be confirmed until Budget day, commentators expect the Budget to address areas such as Income Tax and National Insurance thresholds, business rates, employment costs, pension allowances, and support for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). We’ll be publishing predictions and analysis in the run up to 28 October.
